OpenAI Gets Slammed for Sharing Users' Conversation Heedlessly
Be careful what you say, especially when you say it on a platform owned by heedless AI providers like OpenAI.
It seems innocuous enough to have a “Share” feature for conversations in ChatGPT.
Perhaps you wish to share your chat with your family and friends, or to use it in a lecture or keynote. Well, if you did click that “Share” button, then your interactions in that chat became (for a while) searchable and indexed by Google.
OpenAI has since removed this feature entirely. The story broke out quickly and the news headlines were ugly. Yet many of those conversations have already been logged and stored by those who found them earlier. This is not an issue we should forget readily.
Going further, none of us should share personal details with AI. For this reason and due to many other concerns too. Below is a graph showing which topics people are most likely to diclose to an AI.
As you can see, extremely sensitive events from people’s lives are being inputted into AI. While the “Share” feature is no longer available, there are many ways that OpenAI can use your chats to develop products and services at your cost.
